This year, Burnaby introduces its new signature event, Central Spark, a family-friendly extravaganza that promises to ignite your Halloween spirit like never before. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Central Park, this event offers an array of thrilling activities, mesmerizing entertainment, and a spectacular fireworks finale. Join us on Fri, Oct 27, 2023, from 6:30 – 8:30pm. So, gather your family and friends, put on your favorite costumes, and get ready to be dazzled at Central Spark

Central Spark promises a diverse range of activities to entertain visitors of all ages. Immerse yourself in the enchanting atmosphere as you sway to live square dance music with Paul Silveria in two sessions, or let your creativity flow by painting a pumpkin medallion, creating a luminary, and crafting spooky block prints. For those seeking a dash of adventure, a slightly spooky outdoor maze awaits, and eco-sculptures of dancing witches promise to captivate your imagination.

As you explore the event, be on the lookout for roving performers, talented face painters, and balloon artists who will amaze you with their skills. Capture magical moments with your loved ones in the dedicated photobooth or unleash your inner artist on a giant, illuminated Light Bright board. For those looking for a challenge, a variety of carnival games, including Skeeball, Zombie Knockdown, and Double Throw Basketball, will test your skills and provide endless entertainment.

Satisfy your taste buds with a delicious variety of food from local food trucks. The following food trucks will be serving from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm: Cravings Kettle Corn, Tornado Potato, Gordo’s Concession, Juicy Green Express, Mom’s Grilled Cheese, Yo Bones BBQ, Reel Mac & Cheese, Green Coast Coffee, Candy Curio.

To ensure everyone’s safety and accommodate the event, certain streets will be closed from 4 pm on October 27 to 12:01 am on October 28. Please check the event website for detailed road closure information.

Parking will be restricted on specific streets from 12:01 am on October 27 to noon on October 28. Make sure to move your vehicle from restricted areas by 11:59 pm on Thursday, October 26, to avoid towing.

If you’re taking public transit, please note that some bus services will be impacted, and bus stops may be closed during the event. The Patterson SkyTrain Station will remain open with regular service.

Food trucks will be available on site, so you can indulge in a variety of culinary delights. Central Spark is a non-smoking event, and there are no designated smoking areas within the event area.

The grand fireworks finale is scheduled to light up the night sky at 8:15 pm and will last approximately 15 minutes.

Central Spark is designed to be kid-friendly and slightly spooky. There will be no depictions of gore or violence, and plenty of activities and treats for young children. Due to the event’s bustling nature and the potential distress fireworks can cause, it’s recommended to leave your pets at home. However, service animals with proper identification are permitted.

A water refill station will be available at Central Park, ensuring you stay hydrated throughout the event. Central Spark is a rain-or-shine event, with tents provided for shelter, including a warming tent with heaters.
