This October, Burnaby transforms into a city of shadows, sparks, and spectacle—and your event could be at the heart of it.
Now in its fourth year, the Burnaby Halloween Festival is calling on creators, producers, and community organizers to pitch their most thrilling, chilling, or delightfully unexpected ideas. Grant funding is available to support events that bring people together, spark imagination, and celebrate Halloween in all its forms.
The festival’s mission? To become the largest Halloween celebration in Canada by 2027—and we’re on track. In 2024, the festival featured 25+ events and welcomed over 100,000 attendees from across the region.
Whether you’re conjuring a large-scale experience or brewing something hyperlocal, grants are available to help bring your concept to life and cover eligible programming or promotional costs. Events can be indoors or outdoors, ticketed or free—what matters most is creativity, accessibility, and connection to community.
2025 Event Grant Categories:
Major Event Grants (Now Closed for 2025)
For established producers expecting 15,000+ attendees.
- Grant Range: Up to 25% of annual operating budget, to a maximum of $40,000
- Use: Programming, event, or operating costs
Intake for this category is now closed for 2025.
Special Event Grants
For unique events that offer an exciting experience for locals and visitors.
- Grant Range: Up to $35,000
- Use: Marketing or operating costs
- Application Deadline: May 31, 2025
Growth Event Grants
For events that support the festival’s mission to diversify and expand its programming.
- Grant Range: $10,000 to $20,000
- Use: Marketing or operating costs
- Application Deadline: July 31, 2025
Community Activation Grants
For grassroots and neighbourhood-level events that spread the spirit of Halloween across Burnaby.
- Grant Range: $1,000 to $2,500
- Use: Marketing or operating costs
- Application Deadline: August 31, 2025
